Situated in a backstreet in the centre of Port Louis almost facing the old theatre, a little sign shows the way to a collection of inestimable value: the only Photography Museum in Mauritius and the surrounding islands. This private collection can be found next to a little romantic garden in a historical, shuttered cottage.

The Chinese have traditionally occupied a quietly industrious position in the life of Port Louis. The region between the two 'friendship gates' on Royal Street forms the centre of Port Louis' Chinatown. Here you'll see the rich mercantile life of the hard-working Chinese community, the busy Chinese restaurants and groceries and the streets echoing with the unmistakable clatter of mah jong tiles.

The Central Market

The Central Market is situated in the Mauritian capital of Port Louis and is a vibrant spot. This market is an energetic market with stalls piled high with tropical fruits and vegetables and also mountains of spices. This place is always crowded with locals and tourists as one can get to seek out samosas or other Indian snacks. One can also keep an eye out for some of the colorful stalls which sells herbal cures.

Jummah Mosque

The Jummah Masjid is a mosque in Port Louis, Mauritius dating from the 1850s, with substantial additions built through the 1890s. It is located on the Royal Road, and is described by the Ministry of Tourism's guide as one of the most beautiful religious building in the country.
